2006 CAST at the LAKE THUNDERBIRD BOATHOUSE

The 2006 CAST (Catch a Special Thrill) event, the fifth CAST at the BoatHouse, was September16. Thirty-three children went fiishing, several for the first time and several that had fished in earlier CAST events. On a marvilous day but with somewhat stiff winds much of the time, they fished away for about 2 hours, were then fed hamburgers and hot dogs, and awarded with a plaque with a picture of them with their fisherman buddy. Plenty of gifts besides a rod, reel and tackle box. Fishing was good for several that caught 20 fish and a few big ones caught as well.

As can be seen in the poster, a group of organizations provide the event. The BoatHouse is the site host and Lake Thunderbird Educational Foundation raises the funds to that support this hosting. The Lake Thunderbird State Park recruits the fishermen and registers the children. Bureau of Reclamation provides support and liaison with Cast for Kids Foundation. All of these organizations supply a large collection of volunteers. For most of these events at the BoatHouse, Albertson's, led by Sharon Peery, has donated food and food preparation. Of course, the fishermen are responsible for the fishing. Thanks to all these people for producing a Special Thrill for these Kids!
